“Thy Holy Writ”

Jonah chapter 2, verse 1 & 2 (NKJV)

Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly.
2) And he said:
“I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction,
And He answered me.
“Out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
And You heard my voice.

Folks these two verses say a lot about our relationship with God as His children. As a parent, there comes a time when we have to let our children go and experience life and when they fall or get into trouble we as parents come and rescue them or help them in what ways we see fit to do so.

God is like that with us. He gave free will, to every man, woman and child on this planet, knowing we would stumble, fall get into trouble and cause uncomfortable situations for ourselves. He stands by and allows us to make wrong choices and even bad ones at that. All in hopes that we will cry out to Him for help, no matter what it is we have gotten ourselves into.

The point I am trying to make here is that God is always watching over us, every minute of everything we do here and He does answer our cries for help. But sometimes because we chose a path that is not His way for us, like Jonah, we have a life lesson to learn. Once we learn that lesson He comes and aids us.

Just as we do for our children. We love them and we want the best for them. We don’t want harm to come to them but we can’t always be there to hold their hand and see them through every step they take in life, even if we want to. Yet like God our Father we are there when they need us the most, that is if they ask. And so we answer and render enough aid or help to get them back on solid ground, just like God did for Jonah.

So go ahead and live life, remember to do that which you know is right and proper before the eyes of the Lord and he will be with you always. If you let Him, ready to answer your call for help when you need it the most and you’ve learned what it is He wanted you to experience.

Have a blessed day people and know that God is watching and waiting just for you. Always, even until the end of time itself…
Sincerely yours in Christ Jesus,
Bp. Andrew R. M. Manley DD., O.S.A., O.S.P.
